Phenomenal Women Of The Web

A Prince of Thieves Work In Progress
  • Originally started: 5/2005

  • Completed: 8/2005

  • Tools: Paint Shop Pro 9 and Wacom graphics tablet

  • Original Inspiration: A photo from a stock photographer over on Deviant Art.

  • Other Comments: This one was digital from start to finish.

The top image shows a three step progression from the initial extremely rough color sketch to some basic shading and fleshing out. The image underneath  is a detail shot of the head and face during the second stage pictured above.

The next stage is shown with two of the previous stages here. As you can see, I did a lot of work towards the background and jokingly added one of my own paintings to the background.

Also in this stage you can see the alteration of the tail to give it that classic playful twitch. This was suggested by my fiancé, Brooks, who noted that when our cat Pixie is at her most playful and mischievous, her tail  does that exact twitch.

Another trio update image. The one on bottom right is the newest stage of the image. This was where I started liking what the silk shirt was looking like, but it needed a lot more work.

The finished piece. I added in all of the jewelry and finished up all the shading and highlights. I also did a total rework of the fringe on the pillow, which was really bugging me.
