The colorized version.

I've been wild about the film since I saw it and the release to DVD has me positively obsessing over Pan's Labyrinth. I don't generally do a lot of fan art, but I was so impressed with the beautiful character design of the Faun that I wanted to draw him. I looked at some photo references to make sure I got his swirlies and horns and things right.

Originally I was using the chalk and smear Art Media tools in Paint Shop Pro 9. However, I discovered about halfway through when I saved to take a break that instead of keeping the layer as an Art Media layer, PSP saves it as raster and you can't then go back and edit it as Art Media. This is pretty annoying and they really ought to fix it. I ended up having to finish it with the airbrush tool and regular smudger tool after fiddling with their settings a bit to keep the kind of charcoal rendered look I was going for.

I am considering offering this as a very limited print run of 10 in the original b&W (I like it better). If you would be interested, please email me.
