Life Spring
Someone once told me that I should document all of my complete work no matter how much I disliked it or how minor I thought it was because someone out there might like it enough to want it. I do a lot of this kind of stuff when I'm just bored and goofing around with Paint Shop Pro. I just start painting randomly and whatever happens happens. I consider these kind of expressive/gestural in nature because they usually start with just a random brush setting, a random color and some random doodling. I don't consider them "real art", honestly. They're more like recess for my brain when I'm wanting to create, but I can't seem to focus enough to do something more serious and involved. In this case I ended up with this odd little abstract plant. This was mostly done playing around with brush settings and textures except for the sparks (a fireworks tube that came with PSP9) and the glow effect (the glow filter from Eye Candy). It's in a similar vein as another random painting I did called "Spiral Tree" which was later used as a banner background in a couple of places where I display my art as well as for a linking banner for my site.
